The first part involved a circa 27 yr old winger who had just been signed for free by Manchester United - he was a bit Jamie Redknapp-esque in stature, and possibly looks (but by no means exactly so) also...

I remember being sat on a sofa with him, saying 'how much are you earning if you don't mind me asking' - to which he replied, £250,000 to £300,000 a week; causing me to reply, 'well that's a nice amount, you can play your football and have plenty of money to enjoy yourself with'...

The second part involved two black strikers, ours who was quite a well-built lad, and the very confident opposition striker who made ours look relatively out of condition and less well-built - i put my left arm around the opposition striker and lead him to our defenders, in a rather light-hearted and jovial manner, saying to a young and slim Johnny Evans, who was stood off-field with his head down (in/with a noncommittal manner/attitude) and his arms slightly out-stretched holding onto some wooden advertising hoardings, 'this guy thinks that he will be shipping loads of goals past you'; the point i was trying to make was that it didn't matter how strong and confident said striker thought he was, for if our defenders are nimble and skillful enough to take the ball off him (dispossess him) then he wouldn't be scoring any goals...
