2020

As i was doing stuff within my kitchen earlier this morning, i decided, rather atypically, to listen to a bit of Zoe Ball onth radio...

And a very pleasant and thought provoking experience it turned out to be ...

Completely dissimilar, in actual fact, to when Chris Evans used to host such a show - when i found myself (unlike many other listeners apparently) turning it off again rather quickly, as i don't enjoy my rather sensitive nervous system being rather abruptly jangled into awakeness...

Anyway, back on point - apparently the very nice Zoe and guests(???) had been discussing favourite long words...

...Which got me thinking about what my bestest, most favouritest long words would be - resulting in us(???) coming up with a phew of our(???) own...

'Ray' is simply a word that came to mind - seemingly without any thought from myself...

What a rather excellent long word thought i - for as we all should most readily know, a ray of light can travel for a very long distance indeed...

...For many multiples of light-years in fact...

And then there is 'rope' of course - they can also be quite long...

Especially so when deployed to traverse rivers for example - and as many of us know, the Milky Way, when viewed within the heavens whilst on Earth, can be seen as being a very long river indeed...

Not that a piece of rope could ever be that long of course...

And talking of rope, there is also 'string' of course - of which apparently some very learned people have certain, rather exotic, theories...

Whilst for us more simple-minded people, there is of course the very telling phrase - 'as long as a piece of string'; need i say more eh...

Yes, 'string', my most dear ones, has a certain ring to it, does it knot???...

And the talk of 'ring' brings most readily to mind the word 'bell' of course...

...And as we all know, the sound of a bell (especially church ones) can be heard from a very long distance away indeed...

And a bell-ringer, of course, is called a 'campaknowlogist' - which is, in actual fact, quite a long word in itself...

So, a rather hearty 'thank you' goes out to the rather lovely and highly entertaining Zoe Ball - who got me thinking, somewhat earlier inth morning than i would perhaps normally do...
